Slain 2: The Beast Within
Slain 2: The Beast Within now has a demo on Steam, released by surprise on 28 July. It is side-scrolling 2D action with the look of a heavy metal album cover: you play Prince Akran, the last Wolfguard, wielding the sentient sword Bathoryn and dealing fire, ice and total destruction. Under the full moon you turn into a werewolf, the big addition over the first game. On combat, the studio says it has rebuilt movement and the move sets from scratch, aiming for something heavy that still answers the button. It is made by Steel Mantis, Andrew Gilmour's studio, with Silver Lining Interactive, the same people behind Valfaris. The announcement also confirmed PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions, with a boxed physical edition for PS5 on the same day as the digital release. Spanish text, single player, full controller support. No date for the full game yet, only 2026. Not made for kids.
